What radios are required for a private aircraft (propeller driven) Can they tune marine frequencies? - marine propellers

Are there additional requirements for the flight to Mexico?

Private Aircraft in the U.S. is not required to have radios for VFR flight in uncontrolled airports. The voice of the planes in the range from 118 to 137 MHz

Radios aircraft have different requirements from those of the marine radio. Because they tend to operate on the ground, transmission in a frequency band, the "line of sight" limits. 30,000 meters from your line of sight, can travel a considerable distance, so that communication over long distances.

Ships at sea are not working as much, but they must communicate over long distances (up to several thousand kilometers in some cases) For this reason is called a lower frequency band for maritime communication. These radio waves tend to jump into the water, and then from the upper atmosphere, and then again and so on, until you reach your destination.

A similar band is designed for use in AM radios. You can listen to a AM stations hundreds or even thousands of miles away and) (especially at night to get a transfer. Ham Radio in the same way.

The range of radio signals is literally infinite. Each waveform has unique characteristics. The spectrum was segmented and classifiedbe used for several reasons. The first is that some frequencies are more useful for some applications (one of the disadvantages of low frequency transmission is a slow transfer speed ... imagine sending an e-mail that was sent 15 minutes before). And in other cases they differ only on the transition frequency to prevent it. It can do FM radio and GPS signals for transmission from aircraft on frequencies are nearly identical, but there is a clear demarcation between them to prevent accidental aircraft homing in on radio stations (incedentally some aircraft and have done so, for AM stations) instead of the appropriate navigation system.

In what is needed ... The aircraft that are not really necessary to have on all radios. They are very limited, where you can go without the radio, but you do not need. The requirements are the same as in Mexico, it is here.
